so can we start a collection of maps of this area and maybe one from last season's map??? For comparison. All in one spot would make it easier for
those running through for a quick check up. What y'all think???

Map of Northern BC, Alberta, NWT & Yukon. | #2

Here ya go Speed. It's the best map I've yet found on the internet. It's clickable (east/west, north/south) and zoomable () Zoom in to see the
approximate location of the roads.

Last Years (East) and 'MY' Winter Road (West). | #3
|
This is a map of last years road to Diamonds (East) and the Old Road to Echo Bay (West). Both routes were pioneered by John Denison. I spent most of my time on
the Western Road but did scout and do security patrols on the Diamond road as far North as Lupin Mine on Contwoyto Lake for three winters..
Do these maps help you?

I have a question because either my attention span is short or the series didn't really get into it, but what areas are the winter roads used for to haul
freight on?

I'm not sure what you are asking. The routes indicated on the map are what we call up the ISR. It meanc the Inuvialuit Settlement Region. It means they own
and control that land. Halfway to Aklavik you enter the GSR which is the Gwich'in Settlement Region. If thats what you meant ?

Does the ice road start at Inuvik? If so, whereabouts does it go? Or are there several ice roads?

The Ice road starts in Inuvik. We have 3 different routes onto the ice around town. You hand a left about 23 kms up to go to Aklavik. Continuing straight you
get to Bar C island at which point you hang a left and go onto the MGM road which takes you to the rigs. If you don't turn the road end in Tuk.... 200 kms
north of Inuvik.

Last year we were going to McKinley Bay which is 143 kms north of Tuk....Other years we have gone all the way to Herschel Island via Shallow bay just nort of
Aklavik. It depends on where the work is. It changes every year. Next year, who knows. They have announced alot of new projects for this winter.

There will be alot more siesmic and drilling activity this winter. I'm having a tough time chartering any twin otters this summer as Esso booked them most
of the time for aerial seismic work.

Icemann. That's probably one that is based up here now. Ken Borek air supplies Aklak air here with alot of planes. We don't have our DC4 this summer as
it crashed in Brazil last winter. We'll have to make do with just twin's. Shitty. Kelly is on his way to Sach's Harbour today on a twin..
