I remember reading the stories in Laura Ingles Wilder's books. I used to live next to a corn field when I was knee high to a grass hopper, but alas they
turned it into an industrial park, I enjoyed shooting out their lights during construction though. I wanted my corn field back, but no one would listen.
Instead we moved south right next to a field of whispering soy beans, and small grain alcohol facility.

I had a picture of a dinosaur sitting next to a blonde lady but can't find it right now. Here's a view from nearby I took earlier this summer.
Ever see prickly pear cactus grow year round in the Midwest? It does here:

"Little Ho's on the Prairie" That was/might still be Dixie Truckers Home McLean Illinois (Where I met my first Mrs.) Nobody who knew the place
ever parked there for sleep, just bunk time
Sorry Speed, that view is down the road a might. Only views of corn at my place.

That's the old Dixie. Took that picture around 1965 if I remember.
PN or someone might want to move my rantings to a different location. I totally derailed this thread.

Speaking of eight foot grass, isn't that basically all that corn is? But, what does all this have to do with the time and temp in Inuvik?
Once more.

No I don't remember seeing prickly pares growing year round in the midwest. I do in Arizona, and boy they sure do make some fine candies. I belong to
